I'm leading this one-of-a-kind workshop January 12 - February 2:

Small Miracles – The Music Connection Workshop

In this four-part dynamic workshop you’ll experience the kind of spontaneous, miraculous music making many people think is reserved for the greats.  Through instruction, examples, games and more you’ll have the chance to connect with the deep fundamentals that are the real magic of music.

The class is intended to help aspiring musicians find their strength, take experienced musicians to the next level, and improve everyone’s ability to feel and make music.  The exercises and group activities alone will improve every note you make.  Learn to find the groove, to let the solo take you, to play better with and for others, and much more.  Open to singers and instrumentalists of all levels and styles.

Class leader Lincoln Crockett is a professional musician and energy worker who believes everyone who loves music can make music.  He has performed at local coffee shops and on national stages as a singer, songwriter, mandolinist, guitarist and drummer.  He currently teaches at Sound Roots School of Modern Music in Portland, OR.

"There's nothing wrong with old-school, but the real fun comes with those who push envelopes. As with blues, jazz, even country and rock 'n' roll, those who bring something new to the party help propel genres to higher levels.  Such is the case with Lincoln Crockett…”

THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO CAME AND ENJOYED THE

SPECIAL SHOW AT BIRDFEST & BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7!

Lincoln_Crockett_Concert_Poster_B_web.jpg

At The Old Liberty Theater in Ridgefield, WA!

The organizers of the Birdfest & Bluegrass Festival invited me to do a special show at The Old Liberty Theater.  I kicked it off with a solo/duo first set trading off guitar and mandolin duties with guest picker Nicolas Miranda.  For the second set we were joined by fellow Cross-eyed Rosie alum Jason Mellow on bass and Peter Schwimmer on banjo.  Each talented in their own right, together these three are truly a joy for me to play with and we had a remarkable evening, if I do say so myself.

Look for us to release some music, hopefully later this year!

LINCOLN CROCKETT & CHRIS KOKESH PLAYED LIVE AGAIN!

Lincoln Crockett Chris Kokesh fiddle mandolin

I first teamed up with singer, songwriter, guitarist, fiddler CHRIS KOKESH in July 2008. One local promoter dubbed us the Yin-Yang Twang Twins; we’ve both got a bit of traditional in our originals, but where Chris goes folk, I go rock.  When we get together, my songs pull the electric guitar out of her fiddle and hers inspire my most delicate guitar and mandolin work.  It’s dynamic, acoustic folk-rock with a whole bunch of harmonies all over it.

Lately we have not had very many opportunities to play together, so we jumped at the chance to share the stage with long-time Willamette Valley favorites, the Sugar Beets (www.thesugarbeets.com) on Friday, September 2, 2011 at the Alberta Rose Theatre, Portland’s finest spot for acoustic music.  It was a great turnout and thank you to everyone who cheered us along.  We'll do it for you again soon!

WE CELEBRATED ON SATURDAY FEBRUARY 26th, 2011 WITH MY OPENINGS SET AT THE WOODS IN PORTLAND FOR THE EPIC DOUBLE DOUBLE CD RELEASE SHOW FOR NATHANIEL TALBOT'S SOPHOMORE LP "LESS WILD" - GARETT BRENNAN'S NEW EP "THE COOKIE TAPES"

Before my sabbatical last year I holed up with “Angels & Devils Alike” engineer Tom Frisch to record “In Pictures”.  The album captures eleven solo performances of then brand-new, untested material.  It’s got everything – guitars, mandolin, even a banjo – but something was missing.  Hmmm… oh, yeah: Originally released on my birthday in 2010 as download-only, on 2/26/11 I triumphantly unveiled – ta da – PHYSICAL COPIES.  Mission accomplished, Amercia.

MORE ABOUT LINCOLN CROCKETT:

Lincoln Crockett is the real deal, a talented Northwest performer singing standout original songs on mandolin & guitar, all while playing leads, rhythms and chords all at the same time. He holds audiences’ attention with the expansiveness in his voice and his ability to move a mountain of music through his instruments. Crockett has a style all his own he sometimes calls "progfolk".  He twists jazz, bluegrass, prog-rock and folk into an affecting set of wry soul-searching with uplifting spiritual flavor specific to no genre. The combined effect has garnered Crockett attention from within the music and spiritual community in the Pacific Northwest, the reputation of being a 'musician's musician' and devoted audience support.

Crockett is also a trained and experienced energy healer with an active practice in Portland, Oregon where he offers both hands-on and distance healing.  Crockett’s awareness of the energetic connections between performers and audiences has long influenced his performances.  Sensitive to energies from a very young age, music became an expressive tool for bridging the gap between the world he could see and the world he could feel.  His songs are often derived directly from his own personal healing process, and have gone on to affect thousands of listeners.

Crockett cut his chops as singer, songwriter and mandolin player for progressive bluegrass funhouse Cross-eyed Rosie, and helped turn this popular Portland, Oregon five-piece into the Northwest's premier group of its kind. The band sold out it's Portland and Seattle cd release shows for their long-awaited disk second disk Adjusted and remains popular. On indefinite hiatus since 2008, their final appearance was at roots music festival Pickathon, and they recently popped their heads up at The Laurelthirst Pub in Portland.  Don't exect that you've heard the last from CER.

Over the past few years Crockett's poured his energy into singing and playing mandolin with a number of projects, including Cross-eyed Rosie and 'blues-grass' duo Robb&Crockett; (with singer/songrocker Jimmy Robb). Many of Rosie's live shows are available for download online, while R&C's last appearance was a remarkable live show in March '08 at Mississippi Studios. Also in 2008, Crockett began his remarkable modern folk & bluegrass pairing with award-winning singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Chris Kokesh of nationally recognized folk group Misty River. In 2009 Chris and Lincoln were joined by acoustic guitar wizard and Berklee School of Music dropout Nicolas Miranda to briefly form the boundary-bending acoustic trio Lucky Finn. Crockett also plugs in and turns it up loud with Lincoln Crockett & The Rocktet, a fusion collaboration with a power trio backup-band of members of Portland's Rocktet, featuring virtuoso prog-blues guitarist Jim McKeon, bass player Tyler Smith and drummer Andy Love. From time to time Lincoln also lends his skills to supporting Portland area artists like Brad Creel, Garett Brennan, and Alexa Wiley.

The past few years have been eventful for Crockett's solo career beginning with the 2007 release of his full-length debut disk “Angels & Devils Alike”.  The Oregonian said it “radiates all that's good about the progressive side of bluegrass”, while the Willamette Week called it “gorgeous”.  In addition to frequent performances and the release of Angels & Devils Alike, in 2007 Lincoln opened for Phish's Page McConnell at Portland's Aladdin Theater, had his song 'When Will You Come Home' featured on KINK 101.9FM's Local Music Spotlight and placed his popular song 'Sawdust Settler' on a compilation benefiting the Salmon Nation Project. He began 2008 with more continuous gigging, more tours into Washington, a guest appearance sitting-in with virtuosos Tony Furtado and Scott Law, and yet another spin on KINK. 2009 saw more regional touring and frequent performances with Chris Kokesh. Near the end of the year Lincoln completed work on In Pictures and Play In The Yard and announced his sabbatical, which but for a small handful of houseconcerts continued through August 2010.  Lincoln is currently focused on his energy healing practice and continuing his course as a successful, independent, and uniquely Pacifc NorthWestern musician.

VISIT THE MUSIC PAGE and hear tracks from all of Lincoln's albums plus a live version of ‘Gone Away’ from Portland's Aladdin Theater!  Crockett has four albums, all available here at THE STORE PAGE and at CDBaby. VISIT THE NEWS PAGE to keep up with events as they unfold. On the HEALING page you can learn about something that makes Lincoln truly unique as a musician.  VISIT LINK'S LINKS to keep up with Chris Kokesh, Cross-eyed Rosie, Lucky Finn, Robb&Crockett;, JCB, CVG, 3LD and other projects Lincoln has been associated with. And say HI in the GUESTBOOK.  You'll be glad you exposed yourself to the art and music of Lincoln Crockett.
